OnlyFans Star Kylie Perez Faces Jail Time Over Unpaid $1.5M Tax Bill

OnlyFans Star Kylie Perez Faces Jail Time Over Unpaid $1.5M Tax Bill

An OnlyFans model has been sentenced to a year in prison for failing to fork out over $1.5 million in taxes she owed on her massive X-rated earnings.Kylie Perez, a 31-year-old Tampa-based content creator known to thirsty fans as “Natalie Monroe,” earned more than $5.4 million from her accounts between 2019 and 2023, according to federal prosecutorsBut she filed a bogus tax return in 2019 and refused to pay at least $1.5 million in taxes she owed from 2020 to 2023, officials said.Kylie Perez, 31, was sentenced to a year in prison last month. Jam PressThe OnlyFans model raked in more than $5.4 million between 2019 and 2023. Jam PressShe pleaded guilty in May and was sentenced last month following an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service’s criminal investigation division.“When someone chooses personal luxury over meeting their tax obligations, the consequences are inevitable,” said Ron Loecker, the special agent in charge of the IRS criminal investigation team in Florida.IRS special agents “will continue to uncover the truth and safeguard the integrity of the tax system for all law-abiding taxpayers,” he said.In addition to one year behind bars, Perez was additionally sentenced to a year of supervised release, according to the Justice Department.Kylie Perez went by the name “Natalie Monroe” online. Jam PressPerez’s sentencing came just days after Florida-based OnlyFans stars received excellent news about their own tax statuses, as Republican gubernatorial candidate James Fishback – who vowed to slap a 50% “Sin Tax” on their earnings – was crushed in the Sunshine State’s primary election.Fishback, a right-wing former investor, had claimed the tax was a mechanism to “disincentivize and deter” the porn biz – and said the proposal would not only target OnlyFans creators, but also the “sick men online” who buy their lurid wares. Fishback called out OnlyFans favorite and Florida resident Sophie Rain specifically, claiming in an X post that she would owe the state $42 million in taxes under his proposal. Perez was also sentenced to a year of supervised release once her time behind bars is done. Jam PressRain, 23 – who has earned more than $100 million on the platform since 2023 – called the tax proposal “the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard” and complained that she has “never had a problem with paying [her] fair share.” “I pay my taxes — I’ve paid millions in taxes — and it’s just not logical,” she said. The adult content creator – who also co-founded and is a member of the Bop House, a Florida compound home to a gaggle of adult stars who say they net a combined $15 million per month – was happy to hear her gravy train would continue uninterrupted with Fishback’s gubernatorial loss. “I never believed voters were going to support singling out women and punishing them for doing completely legal work, so yes, I’m very happy to be keeping my money,” Rain told The Post at the time. The Post reached out to reps for Perez.

Lindsay Clancy's Attorney Pleads with Trump for Pardon After Mistrial Shocker

Lindsay Clancy's Attorney Pleads with Trump for Pardon After Mistrial Shocker

Lindsay Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, asked President Donald Trump to pardon the defendant after her murder case ended in a mistrial. "Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady and the person she is, what she's been through, and consider a pardon," Reddington said while appearing on the Tuesday, September 8, episode of Good Morning America. Clancy, 36, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the killings of her kids Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, in January 2023. She pleaded not guilty, and her defense argued throughout the trial that she shouldn’t be held criminally responsible due to her severe postpartum psychosis. The case ended in a mistrial on Friday, September 4, after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Reddington admitted he was "upset" that the case ended in a mistrial due to one lone juror who refused to say she was not guilty. "He had agreed, according to the note from the forelady, that he had doubt but he would not present the law of reasonable doubt as presented by the judge," Reddington said of the juror. "That's not right and that's why I was upset." Reddington was also asked about potentially having a retrial, and expressed his hopes that he and Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz can come to an agreement. "He’s a very hard-charging prosecutor, a conservative gentleman," he said of Cruz. "I hope however after sitting through this trial and seeing the evidence that was presented from the government as well as from the defense, that he would revisit that issue and hopefully would be able to work something out that would be acceptable to both sides." Cruz previously shared his thoughts about a potential retrial on September 4, in which he declined to announce plans regarding the future of the case. "I appreciate the fact that there are strong feelings and opinions tied to this case," Cruz said outside of the courthouse following the ruling. "However, our job is to set aside our feelings and focus solely on the facts. The facts are Lindsay Clancy killed her three children and the evidence suggested to us that she was in control of her actions when she committed those homicides." While Reddington has asked Trump, 80, to pardon Clancy, the White House has not yet responded to the request. However, Trump did previously reflect on the case on the day the mistrial was declared. Trump told reporters that the case was on “television so much” that it was “hard not to follow it." "Look, she did a horrible, horrible thing. Can't be worse," Trump said of Clancy. "But you'll find out what the price to pay is. There'll be a price. It's going to be mental institution or jail or something, but I guess they're going to go through another trial. It's too bad." Canada's Bold Move: New Tariffs Could Spike Prices by 50%

Canada's Bold Move: New Tariffs Could Spike Prices by 50%

Get ready to pay more for Canadian imports — and not just maple syrup and hockey sticks. As the trade war between Canada and the US escalates, items like steel, aluminum, wool and lumber will spike in price this week thanks to retaliatory tariffs on over $20 billion worth of goods. The move went into effect just after midnight on Tuesday.Canada’s counter-tariffs were first announced two weeks ago after negotiations with the US reached a stalemate. Just days before, the Prime Minister told the world Canada was “at war” with the US. Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney announced retaliatory tariffs on the US last month REUTERS“We were attacked. You’re at war when you get attacked. We got attacked,” Carney told reporters on August 22. “That’s fine. We’ve got the reserves. We’ve got the resilience. We’ve got the plan. We’ve got the focus. We will respond.”Carney revealed the duties will range between 15%, 25% and 50%, with the rate for each product matching the US dollar-for-dollar.The move will likely cost you at the cash register.Items facing 50% tariffs will be on products like American milk, perfume, golf clubs, steel, aluminum, jackets and T-shirts. Products subject to 25% tariffs are cheese, carpets, certain household appliances like stoves and air conditioners, while forklifts and some industrial molds will face 15% tariffs.Experts say the new round of levies will likely hit Midwestern states — like Michigan and Indiana — especially hard as their economies are deeply tied to the auto industry and manufacturing. Dairy producers in Wisconsin and Vermont are also expecting to take a hit as 50% tariffs will hurt dairy farmers. The new round of tariffs only impacts a fraction of the goods that pass through the US-Canada border — totaling over $700 billion last year, according to figures from the U.S. Census Bureau. It does, however, represent an escalating dispute between the former allies.President Trump took to Truth Social yesterday, upping the ante by blasting the once-friendly neighbor with threats to no longer sell Bombardier — a Canadian jet maker in the US. Trump said the aircraft maker must build its jets in the US or lose access to the market. The tariffs are set to hit Midwestern states the hardest AFP via Getty Images“If they want our Market, they must build here, and stop treating America like a ‘piggybank,’” the Truth Social post read.Canada’s tariffs were imposed after the US put levies on items like Canadian milk, hockey sticks, alcohol, plywood and other goods. Last month, negotiations collapsed, only intensifying an 18-month-old trade war.The growing tensions could impact the US-Mexico-Canada free trade agreement (USMCA) — which officially went into effect in 2020 — replacing the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The agreement is now up for annual review as Trump has declined to extend it for another decade.Canadian and US government data revealed that Canada shipped nearly 68% of total exports to the US this year, where about 80% came through duty-free due under the USMCA pact. “I don’t want Canadian cars, I don’t want Canadian parts, I don’t want Canadian anything,” Trump said on Truth Social last month. “They’ve been ripping us off for decades, and it’s going to stop.”

Nauseating video shows a newborn rat squirming around a woman’s lunch from a restaurant in Hong Kong — which is now being investigated by local health authorities. The pink, hairless, alien-like creature, whose eyes were still not fully opened, could be seen wiggling its little arms and legs and seemingly struggling to breathe inside of a takeaway container from the Wa Jer Restaurant, the repulsive footage shows. The customer ordered the $5.40 beef rice noodle meal on Monday, and after seeing the baby rat writhing in her satay sauce, immediately filed a complaint with the local Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, the South China Morning Post reported.A customer in Kwai Chung, Hong Kong ordered a HK$48 satay beef pasta yesterday — and found a newborn pink mouse wriggling in the sauce. After reviewing the restaurant premises, officials found hygiene conditions unsatisfactory.“Regarding the suspected discovery of a baby rat in takeaway food, the department is conducting an investigation covering various aspects including food preparation, packaging, storage, and delivery,” the spokesperson said.“At this stage, it is inappropriate to jump to conclusions as to when and how the baby rat got into the food based solely on online video clips or the finding of a suspected baby rat in the food.”The restaurant’s operator, who was not identified, said he was shocked by the incident, but declined to say whether he thought it was some kind of sick prank. Prince George's First Day at Eton: A Royal Milestone That Mirrors the Past

Prince George's First Day at Eton: A Royal Milestone That Mirrors the Past

Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton marked a major milestone with their son Prince George as he started the school year at Eton College. The royal couple were seen dropping off their 13-year-old for his first day at the all-boys school in Windsor, England, on Tuesday, September 8. William, 44, dressed smartly for the occasion, wearing a dark suit and blue tie. George was the spitting image of his father as the trio strolled through the courtyard. Kate, for her part, looked dazzling in an emerald green dress and beamed with pride on her son's big day. Simon Henderson, the school's headmaster, and provost Sir Nicholas Coleridge were on hand to greet George and his parents. Henderson reportedly welcomed the new student and told him, "Good luck. Enjoy it." William previously attended the boarding school from 1995 to 2000. In a scene mirroring the one captured by photographers on Tuesday, William was dropped off by his father, King Charles III, and late mother Princess Diana on his first day. William and Kate, 44, have been hands-on parents while raising George and his siblings: Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8. Years before George began his Eton journey, a source exclusively told Us that Kate and William were "open" to sending their son to a boarding school someday. "They'd never force George to go unless he wants to and they feel it's right," the insider told Us in 2021, adding that the decision would be one they made "as a family." According to a separate source, William was already preparing George for his future as a royal leader. "William's already explained his future role to him, and he loves learning about his family in history classes," the insider explained. "William tries not to overwhelm him with too much information, but George is aware that there's a lot more to being king than how the role is portrayed in Disney movies and children’s books." More recently, royal historian Marlene Koenig told Us that George is "undoubtedly aware" of what lies ahead for him as second in line to the throne behind his father. Reflecting on George's role as a train bearer in grandfather Charles' coronation in 2023, Koenig added, "The coronation provided the young prince with the knowledge that he, too, would one day be crowned in a coronation ceremony."

Brie Bella's Hospital Drama: The Unexpected Bathroom Incident Everyone's Talking About

Brie Bella's Hospital Drama: The Unexpected Bathroom Incident Everyone's Talking About

WWE star Brie Bella found herself in the ultimate crappy situation recently when she wound up in the hospital after she passed out on the toilet. In a conversation with her twin sister, Nikki Bella, on the Thursday, August 20 episode of "The Nikki & Brie Show," podcast, Brie, 42, explained that the painkillers she was prescribed after breaking her scapula at WWE SummerSlam earlier this month resulted in severe constipation — until the floodgates opened. After more than a week of not having a bowel movement, she said she decided to eat out for the first time. The problem was that the wait staff at the restaurant didn’t seem to understand her dietary restrictions. “I was explaining to the waiter that … I’m gluten free and all the things,” she described. “I felt like they understood, but then there were some things that felt a little confusing to them.” Fast forward to later and Brie was at home with “severe, crazy pain” in her stomach and she knew it was her time to take the porcelain throne. As it turns out, her reign was so turbulent that she passed out. “I got a lot out, which made me pass out because of how much came out of me,” she said of her coronation. Brie’s husband, Bryan Danielson, carried her to bed and called 911 because, as Brie put it, she was “incoherent.” “I was just taking a s*** and this all goes down,” she recalled. “So the EMTs come in and I kind of am waking up a little bit, but I guess I had to use the restroom…Anyway, long story short, I s*** my pants but did not know it.” Brie then described the paramedics putting her in a wheelchair, then onto a stretcher, while her husband pleaded with them to be careful as she was still recovering from her broken scapula. When she regained consciousness in the ambulance, she noticed the air filled with an unwelcome aroma. “All the sudden I kind of wake up and I’m like, ‘Oh it smells like s***,’” Brie recalled. “I look at [the paramedics] and I go, ‘Did I s*** my pants?’ They go, ‘You did, but it’s OK.’” She continued, “And I’m getting emotional and I’m apologizing and they’re like, ‘stop apologizing,’ and I’m like, ‘But I can feel it.’” Brie also apologized to her husband, who she said is “terrified of s***.” When she got to the hospital, doctors said they needed to run tests before cleaning her up. “Finally, after two IV bags and medicine, I start to feel better,” she said. “I was able to walk to the bathroom, and Bryan had to clean me. My poor husband. It was so embarrassing."

Pete Davidson Faces Emotional Challenge Explaining 9/11 to His Daughter

Pete Davidson Faces Emotional Challenge Explaining 9/11 to His Daughter

For Pete Davidson, the 25th anniversary of 9/11 is wrapped in layers of grief and emotion — and even optimism. The “Saturday Night Live” alum was just 7 years old when he lost his father, Scott, a New York City firefighter with Ladder Company 118 in Brooklyn Heights.“I thought, ‘Oh, he was an old guy. He’s 33,’” Davidson told The Post. “But now I’m there, and I have a kid, and that would be like my kid not having her dad.“So this year is extra tough, but also extra beautiful because I get to spend the day with Scottie. It’ll be very healing and special.”Pete Davidson, seen here as a toddler with his dad, was 7 when Scott Davidson, a New York City firefighter, was killed in the 9/11 terror attacks. Instagram/Pete DavidsonComedian Davidson named his daughter, born last December, Scottie after his dad. Todd Owyoung/NBC via Getty ImagesDavidson, who turns 33 in November, welcomed Scottie, his daughter with model Elsie Hewitt, in December. Although the couple split shortly after her birth, Davidson said they were united over their daughter’s name.“It was really cool that Elsie also wanted to name her Scottie,” he said. “My dad’s name was Scott, but his nickname was Scotty. When she arrived, we both looked at her and were like, ‘She looks like a Scottie.’ It’s nice to keep that name alive.”And his daughter already seems drawn to the grandfather she will never meet.“When Scottie was first born, we’d give her a bath in the sink, and there’s a picture of my dad above the sink. She would always stare at it,” Davidson revealed.“You’re like, ‘I don’t know if that’s because that’s the only picture there and she’s brand new and just observing things.’ But then I moved back to Brooklyn and put the picture in a different location. When I walk around, Scottie always turns her head and looks at him.“I don’t know what I believe in, but I like to think that his presence is somehow around.”Davidson has not yet worked out how he will explain his father’s death to his daughter.Pete Davidson donned his father Scott’s fireman jacket at his fifth birthday party.“Luckily, I have some time,” the Staten Island native said. “Honestly, this year is way harder than it’s been in a really long time because I have Scottie, and now I’m the age that my dad was when he died. So I’m just kind of like, ‘Holy s–t.’”But he cannot wait to tell her about her namesake. “I have old videos and pictures and stuff, and I’m excited to share the classic stories I have of him with her,” he said.Davidson is teaming up with his longtime pal Jon Stewart to host “NYC Still Rising After 25 Years: A 9/11 Comedy Benefit” at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 10, with proceeds going to several charities that support first responders from that day and their families.Davidson is teaming up with pal Jon Stewart to host “NYC Still Rising After 25 Years: A 9/11 Comedy Benefit” at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 10, to benefit charities that support first responders and their families. Getty Images“Jon Stewart’s my guy,” Davidson said. “Talk about someone who’s so New York and represents the tri-state area — and is just the barometer of goodwill. We’re pals. We did the 20th anniversary at the Garden, and we had every great comic. It was such a special night.“Benefits are tricky, and 9/11 is such a sad thing. So to be able to check that at the door and have a good time for a great cause is one of my favorite things. This is fun for us because all the firefighters, first responders, police and EMTs come, and we’re fans of them,” he added. “A lot of those guys are my dad’s friends and colleagues.”He and Stewart have visited firehouses and the Port Authority to mark previous 9/11 anniversaries.“We look up to those guys,” Davidson said. “We think they’re so cool.”Stewart became a passionate advocate for rescue and recovery workers after many developed severe respiratory illnesses and cancers from the toxic dust at Ground Zero. Working for years with campaigners including John Feal, a demolition supervisor at the site who lost his foot after a steel beam fell on him, Stewart helped pressure Congress to provide long-term medical care and compensation through the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. It was finally signed into law in 2019 and is funded through 2092.“He was also personally affected by 9/11, and it’s just nice to have a brother in that,” Davidson said of Stewart.Joe Zadroga — father of NYPD detective James Zadroga, who died from 9/11-related illness — with Jon Stewart, who fought for years to secure government support for 9/11 first responders. AFP via Getty Images “I like to honor my dad and keep that memory alive,” Davidson said of supporting 9/11 survivors. NBCU Photo Bank via Getty ImagesFor Davidson, continuing to honor surviving first responders is both personal and part of what it means to be a New Yorker.“You honor those people and always appreciate those guys. Those are real-life heroes,” he said. “If there’s anything I could ever do for anyone, I would do it. I really enjoy it, and I like to honor my dad and keep that memory alive.”Davidson is also giving back to the community that helped care for him after his father’s death. Both he and his sister, Casey, 28, attended America’s Camp, a therapeutic summer camp outside Boston for children affected by 9/11.Casey Davidson, Pete’s sister, shared a photo of their father, Scott, on her Instagram in 2020. Instagram/@caseydavidson“I went for six or seven years,” he said. “My sister and I went every summer for a week, and it was awesome. We had counselors from all over the world, like Wales and Australia, who volunteered their time. It was a free camp. People worked there just for the love.”Taylor Swift even performed at the camp one year.“I ran into Taylor at ‘SNL’ a couple of years ago and thanked her for performing at America’s Camp — and she remembered,” said Davidson, who has remained connected with his fellow campers.“We all love each other,” he said. “There are people from Boston and New Hampshire. It wasn’t just firefighters and police we lost. It was people on the flights and people who were in the city that day.“It was people from all over. They stopped doing the camp because we all grew up, but whenever we see each other, we’re immediately thrown back to really good times. It was nice to have a camp full of people who got it. We all shared this thing.”Joseph Zadroga has been an advocate for first responders who developed health complications in the aftermath of 9/11 after his son James died of 9/11-related illness. Getty ImagesOne thing Davidson does want to stop is what he sees as the “memefication” of 9/11.“It’s this weird thing that happens in our country where a tragedy over time becomes a holiday. And then sometimes I know the youth on the internet uses 9/11 memes as jokes. Someone will be like, ‘This song’s fire,’ and then they’ll post the towers … and we’re the ones that have to see that s–t all the time,” he said.“And it’s very nice that people that have nothing to do with it post a photo on that day and they’ll never forget. But it’s also like, you guys have no f–king idea, actually.”The comedy benefit is, in part, an attempt to take back the anniversary from the documentaries and images that force grieving families to relive the horror every year, Davidson said.“We want to reclaim the day and just have fun,” Davidson said, “and not be in the middle of 12 documentaries that are so sad and rehash it.”For all that has changed, Davidson still believes New York retains the spirit that carried it through its darkest day.“The one thing I know our city and our state are really good at is coming together and having other people’s backs when the chips are down,” he said. “New York has changed since I was a kid. It’s damn near unrecognizable.“But we show up for each other. At the end of the day, that’s what New York is.”

Susan Sarandon claimed her political beliefs have cost her movie roles.During a press conference at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday, the “Thelma & Louise” star was asked if she thinks the “tides are changing” in the film industry — three years after she was dropped by her talent agency for her anti-Jewish rant.“I think that the narrative has completely changed,” she said. “There’s a lot of things that people are aware of now.”Susan Sarandon (seen above) claimed at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday that her political beliefs have cost her movie roles. Taylor Swift's Dazzling NYC Date Night Sparks Buzz

Taylor Swift's Dazzling NYC Date Night Sparks Buzz

Taylor Swift enjoyed a night out with husband Travis Kelce in style. The newlyweds stepped out in New York City for dinner at Ambassadors Clubhouse on Sunday, September 6, in photos obtained by Page Six. Swift, 36, dazzled in a silky brown metallic Stella McCartney halter dress ($2,100). The maxi-dress had a diagonal brown and Lurex stripe pattern and a gold chain neck. She paired the dress with matching strappy heels, a brown purse from the designer ($1,815) and her opal ring and bracelet set that Kelce, 36, gifted her last Christmas. Kelce, for his part, looked dapper in a white and green striped button-up shirt and brown pants. The football player completed his ensemble with checkerboard Vans slip-ons. Swift and Kelce’s outing comes two months after they tied the knot at Madison Square Garden in July. The couple exchanged vows in front of nearly 1,000 of their closest friends and family. The ceremony was officiated by Adam Sandler while Taylor and Travis’ siblings, Austin Swift and Jason Kelce, served as their Man of Honor and Best Man, respectively. “Taylor was emotional while reciting her vows but kept her composure,” an insider told Us about the nuptials. “You could tell she put a lot of work and time into writing her vows. Travis teared up more than Taylor. They shared very personal details and anecdotes that some guests had never even heard before.” Earlier this month, Travis gushed about his wedding day during an episode of his and brother Jason’s “New Heights” podcast. “At this point, we’re what, over a month out? It’s been so much fun,” Travis said. “First of all, the night was a night we’ll never forget. Me and Taylor are so thankful for everybody that showed up, you know, from the vows to just seeing everyone to how much fun we had throughout the entire evening, and hearing that kind of be relayed through everybody’s stories of the night.” Travis referred to the evening as a “magical night” and expressed his gratitude to MSG for making his and Swift’s dream wedding come true. “Thank you [to] everyone at MSG that allowed us to do this,” he shared. “We wanted to do it somewhere where we could have a very intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions. We needed it to be a private feel. And MSG went above and beyond to give us that. I can’t thank everybody enough that showed up but also that helped put the show on, and it was a very magical, magical night.”

Erika Kirk's Heartfelt Reflection: Life After Charlie Kirk's Tragic Death

Erika Kirk's Heartfelt Reflection: Life After Charlie Kirk's Tragic Death

Erika Kirk opened up about the raw emotions she felt in those first few hours after learning husband Charlie Kirk died. “It’s September 11, 2025 — the day after my husband, Charlie Kirk, was shot and killed. The past 24 hours feel like a fever dream as I land in Phoenix from Utah and return home,” Erika, 37, wrote in an op-ed for the New York Times published on Monday, September 7. “I get out of the car, and my kids run into my arms. They have no idea where I was or what I was doing. They care only that I am home.” Last year, Charlie died at age 31 after being shot in the neck during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University. He was survived by Erika and their two children. “As I walk to the front door, there’s a tightening in my chest I don’t recognize. Is this what grief feels like?” she continued. “I sit on the couch where Charlie sat two nights ago watching the Cubs with our kids. I feel a wave building inside me, and I know it’s about to crash.” Erika confessed she turned to Vice President JD Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, for solace at the time. “As she held my hand, she said: ‘You know when you’re on an airplane with your kids, and you’re going to land in 15 minutes, but the kids are going crazy, screaming, throwing things, and then the plane lands, and the kids relax, and everything is fine again? That’s how it will be. Just get through the next 15 minutes,’” she recalled of the second lady’s advice. “Her words are seared into my heart.” The couple had been married since 2021, tying the knot in Scottsdale, Arizona, in front of their closest friends and family in an intimate ceremony. In the wake of Charlie’s death, Erika stepped up as the new CEO of Turning Point USA and vowed to carry on his organization's mission. While detailing her ongoing journey with grief, Erika shared that she “worked up the courage” to go around her and Charlie’s home and glanced at her late husband’s things. “I stood in the doorway of our bedroom. I turned on the light and walked toward his side of the bed. I stared at his pillow and wondered how long a person’s scent can last in sheets,” she penned. “I stood there in silence, replaying all of the completely ordinary mornings we woke up there together. I wasn’t ready to be there, so I turned off the light and crawled into bed with my 3-year-old daughter. Just get through the next 15 minutes.” Erika admitted that she “avoided” her bedroom “for months” as she coped with her grief. She also struggled during the first holidays and milestones her family celebrated without Charlie. “Grief is strange. Time continues even when every part of you wants it to pause or, better yet, rewind,” she wrote. “But the people we love who have passed on would not want us to spend the rest of our lives trying to rewind. At first, I needed to survive the next 15 minutes. Over time, I’ve realized that Charlie would want me to live them.” Erika added that she felt “blessed” to be Charlie’s wife during their four years of marriage. “To the world, he was Charlie Kirk. But to me, he was the love of my life. To our children, he was the center of their world,” she reflected. “When you lose someone you love, it’s easy to struggle to understand God’s plan. One of the hardest tests of our faith occurs when bad things happen. True faith means accepting that we won’t get every answer and finding peace in that.”

Why Baby Boomer Executives Refusing to Retire Could Spell Disaster

Why Baby Boomer Executives Refusing to Retire Could Spell Disaster

Baby Boomer executives continue to win and keep top jobs in the C-suites – and it’s setting up a possible succession crisis across corporate America. From Boeing to Verizon to Cracker Barrel, boards at major firms have been hiring older and even previously retired chief executives to guide them out of corporate messes. As of June, 42% of sitting CEOs were 60 or older — an “elevated” level versus historical averages, according to research by Cowen Partners that looked at SEC proxy filings across an S&P 500 sample.Meanwhile, a major chunk of white-collar Boomers are grappling with what experts call an “identity crisis” — reluctant to leave for a traditional retirement. That, along with a lack of timely succession planning, could spark chaos in the workplace in the coming years.Baby Boomers are staying in the C-suite longer than ever. PintoArt – stock.adobe.com“You know when someone passes away and there is zero will and you don’t know where anything is and now everyone is left to pick up the pieces? That is exactly what is happening across corporate America right now,” according to Shawn Cole, president and co-founder of Cowen Partners Executive Search. For years, economists forecasted a “Silver Tsunami” — the prediction that Boomers born between 1946 and 1964 will age out of the workforce in a great wave. But that’s not happening, as the 12-month average labor force participation rate for those 65 and over hit 19.2% – up from the 10% range in the 1980s and around 12% at the turn of the century.John Challenger, CEO of Challenger, Gray & Christmas, an executive outplacement firm, notes that people are living longer and “just in a different place in their 60s and 70s than they used to be,” so the idea of retiring at 65 seems like an arbitrary number.“There’s also a sense that it’s not healthy to stop working, people feel they need that in their lives,” he added. As of June, 42% of sitting CEOs were 60 or older, according to research by Cowen Partners. zinkevych – stock.adobe.comCole puts it more bluntly: “There’s also a fear that if I stop moving, I might die … because they all know someone who retired and then all of a sudden their body started falling apart and they quickly deteriorated.”At more than a third of the S&P 500 firms sampled by Cowen, the CEO and chief financial officer – the top two seats of a company – were sitting in the retirement window at the same time. Meanwhile, external CEO hires at S&P 500 firms nearly doubled in the past year, and median CEO pay jumped 9.5% to $25.6 million. When Boomers finally leave these cushy jobs, Generation X – those born between 1965 and 1980 – could get passed over altogether as they near retirement age themselves. In theory, it’s an opportunity for Gen Y, better known as millennials, to quickly move up the food chain – but there are risks there too, experts said.Companies could suffer as relatively inexperienced millennials face a “trial by fire,” putting their professional reputations on the line to enter a C-suite spot for which they might not be prepared, per the Cowen research.Once Boomers are finally ready to retire, Generation X could find themselves being passed over. Seventyfour – stock.adobe.com“These people were never allowed in the rooms and over the course of one or two years it’s gonna be a rapid succession and then they’re gonna be given the keys. Who thinks that’s a good idea?” Cole said. The shift may have started during the Great Recession, when companies kept proven Boomers in their seats to steer them out of a crisis instead of promoting Gen Xers. That threw off the succession timeline, since it takes 15 to 20 years of experience to build an executive ready to take over the CEO seat, according to Cowen.Meanwhile, employer training dollars are often spent on workers who are already in leadership positions — an example of how companies are overlooking development opportunities that will hurt them later, said Maria Flynn, CEO of nonprofit Jobs for the Future. It doesn’t necessarily help that “Reverse mentoring” also has picked up, where younger workers are paired with older employees on their teams to keep them up-to-date on newer technologies and share fresh perspectives, according to Flynn. With Baby Boomers hesitant to leave, there are four generations working in American offices today. Mediaphotos – stock.adobe.comMany Boomers simply need the wages, facing stubbornly high inflation and rising gas prices, according to Flynn. But in other cases, white-collar workers simply don’t want to let go.“For folks who may not want to retire, I think a big piece of it is the strong connection between their identity and their job,” Flynn said. “Younger generations may not see that connection as tightly.”Gen Z – those born between 1997 and 2012 – have started contributing to their workplace retirement plans earlier than ever and believe the ideal retirement age is 59, according to a Manulife John Hancock Retirement report. On the other hand, Challenger said he’s noticed more Boomers looking for a “second chapter” instead of retiring.Millennials could quickly be moved up the food chain at work once Baby Boomers retire. Christopher Sadowski“There are more options with job sharing, part-time work, consulting work, entrepreneurial work, contingent work. There was, at one point, a pretty solid line: You worked full-time permanent,” he added.Gen X is already a far smaller generation with about 65 million people, trailing Baby Boomers’ peak population and that of both Gen Z and the largest cohort, millennials.Cole – a Gen Xer – said one of his millennial friends who works at BNSF Railway recently got a promotion because a Baby Boomer four levels above him suddenly retired. The friend was given three days’ notice to move his family to Texas for the new role.“As an employer, you don’t want to wait until the last minute for succession planning and a lot of times folks do wait until it becomes an emergency,” Flynn told The Post.
