Emotional Tributes at Ground Zero: Families Honor 9/11 Victims 25 Years On

Twenty-five years later, we never forget.

Americans in New York City and across the nation gathered Friday to remember the 2,977 people killed and thousands more injured in the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Families of victims killed when hijackers crashed a pair of planes into the Twin Towers gathered at the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero to read their names aloud, as is tradition at the annual commemoration ceremony, starting at 8:30 a.m. ET., followed by a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. — the exact time American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower.
