Why Keri Russell Wasn't Mentioned in Matthew Rhys' Historic Emmy Speech New

Why Keri Russell Wasn't Mentioned in Matthew Rhys' Historic Emmy Speech

Keri Russell has shed some light on why her longtime partner Matthew Rhys did not mention her in his 2026 Emmy Awards acceptance speech. "I looked at him like a few days before, and I said, ‘Okay, well, can you articulate what you’re most nervous about?'" Russell, 50 revealed on the Thursday, October 8, episode of the "Dear Chelsea" podcast. "And he’s like, ‘Yeah, having to speak.’ And I said, ‘Totally.’ And I said, ‘Take me off your plate. Like, you don’t have to thank me. I know you love me.’" Rhys, 51, made history at the 2026 Emmys when he became the first man to win Lead Actor Awards in all three major categories — comedy, drama and limited series. (Legendary actress Barbara Stanwyck previously achieved the same record at the Emmys.) The Welsh star first won the Outstanding Lead Actor prize for his drama series The Americans back in 2018. At the 2026 Emmys, he took home the equivalent awards for comedy Widow's Bay and limited series The Beast in Me on the same night. Rhys seemed to be flustered as he accepted the Emmy for Widow's Bay, though he remembered to thank numerous collaborators, his parents, his sister and his home country. "To the great and good people of Wales, who were as much a nurturer as anyone else, we are a small but mighty nation. This is incredible," he said during his speech. Some viewers later picked up on Rhys failing to mention or thank Russell as he stood on the stage at the Peacock Theater. "I didn't really prepare anything, which is why I vomited that speech," he told E! News backstage at the gala. While speaking to Chelsea Handler on her latest podcast, Russell confirmed that she asked Rhys to leave her out of his speech so he could thank his coworkers. "People still give him a hard time because he didn’t say their name [when he won for The Americans]," Russell revealed. "Like, it’s so crazy. People get nuts. It’s stupid and it’s also lame." She added, "We kind of said to each other, we don't have to thank each other. … Like to go back to your thing, this is for the business people. Like, thank whoever you want to thank." Russell was also nominated at the Emmys this year in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for her performance on The Diplomat, though she ultimately lost to Pluribus' Rhea Seehorn. Rhys and Russell got together while they were playing Soviet sleeper agents on the acclaimed political thriller The Americans — yet this wasn't the first time they crossed paths. On a 2023 Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen episode, Rhys revealed that he got Russell's number at a kickball party hosted by Jennifer Grey more than 20 years ago. "She gave it to me, and this is where this all falls apart. I have no memory of this because I was very inebriated, but I left a very inebriated message on her answering machine," he declared. Russell went on to marry her now ex-husband Shane Deary, with whom she shares 19-year-old son River and 13-year-old daughter Willa Lou. (Russell and Deary split in 2013 and finalized their divorce the following year.) Per Rhys, he and Russell managed to hide their romance on the set of The Americans for “about a solid year” before coworkers figured out they were sneaking off together. "It’s those sneaky PAs who get onto it," he joked. "They have headsets. It was like, ‘They’re both in the trailer.’ I’m like, ‘Shut up!'” Russell and Rhys subsequently welcomed son Sam in May 2016.

Of course, most Americans don't actually believe they are going to get a 'Trump Dividend' anyway, but let's see what the latest is, shall we? Donald Trump's 'Trump Dividends' have been controversial It's well documented that Donald Trump likes to promise things that he perhaps thinks people won't remember. He said that his tariffs were such a huge success that he was going to give almost all Americans $2,000 at one point, remember? That seems to have been a little bit lost in the weeds since then, as loads of people have questioned where it is , whether it was ever possible in the first place, whether it would be a good idea to be doling out checks like that, or whether it is actually a bad idea . Then, in what has been termed by some as a cheap attempt to curry favor ahead of the midterm elections, he promised that he'd be giving $5,000 checks out - yet more evidence of how successful his tariffs have supposedly been. But, once again, there's been some confusion - this time it could affect millions of people. First up, Donald Trump's plan is entirely contingent on him and the Republicans winning the midterm elections, so often a snap judgement call on how a party is doing in government. Giving away $5,000 checks to millions would be a popular move to many voters, so some have interpreted it as tantamount to bribery. It was back on September 9 when Trump announced the bold dividend plans, stating: "If the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000, Then, on his beloved Truth Social, he wrote: "The highly popular $5,000 Trump Dividend will be distributed to every U.S. Citizen if, and when, the Republicans win the Midterm Elections!" That was as recently as last week. Then, on that same day in Alabama, Trump announced that the dividends would be paid to ' all adult citizens '. So, which one is it? Credit: Anna Moneymaker/Getty Trump's dividend numbers don't add up There are currently around 343 million citizens in the USA, meaning that giving every one of them $5,000 would cost around $1.7 trillion. If that number was limited to just adult citizens, it would mean that around 270 million checks are to go out, which is 73 million less, but still clocks in around the $1.3 trillion mark. So, which one is it? In reality, most US citizens appear to believe it is neither. Only a few Americans believe they'll get a Trump Dividend According to Economist and YouGov polls, a vanishingly small number of actual voters believe they'll get the money from Trump. 61% said Trump would never follow through, compared to 21% who said he would. 45% of people polled did not support the plan anyway, compared to 43% who did. Part of this has to be down to the fact that Americans have heard such pledges from Trump before. The $2,000 stuff has gone pretty quiet, hasn't it? As has discussion of the 'DOGE Dividend' from Elon Musk's cost-cutting at government level. When asked to clarify where the government is at on the issue, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said that the President 'has consistently proven his doubters wrong' and added that 'with the continued support of the American people, President Trump will keep delivering real results.' We'll have to see if this latest pledge becomes reality - if Trump wins the midterm elections, anyway.

Why Glen Powell Chooses Silence Over Politics: A Surprising Insight New

Why Glen Powell Chooses Silence Over Politics: A Surprising Insight

Glen Powell doesn’t care to wade into the political landscape one bit. “Over time, I realized that politics divide people,” Powell, 37, revealed in an Esquire profile published Wednesday, October 8. “People trying to prove their point — for me, it’s the worst version of a conversation. I genuinely do not like the discourse. It’s not as healthy as it once was.” Because of the allegedly unhealthy politically-charged conversations, Powell states that it’s “not presently possible” to even engage in certain discussions. “I applaud people for jumping into those things and fighting for what they believe in,” he stated. “If I were a political person, I would be talking about it. For me, my calling is elsewhere.” Instead of activism, Powell is focused on his Hollywood career as both an actor and a screenwriter. “I want to bring people together over a common thing,” the Great Beyond star said of his career goals. “I believe in what I’m making, and I do work really, really hard to try to make sure that it’s something that audiences want. It’s not an easy thing to care so much.” While Powell finds joy in his film and TV projects, he has the complete support of his parents, his sisters and girlfriend Michelle Randolph. “Life is fast for both of us, and we have the same values,” the Chad Powers actor gushed to the outlet of Randolph, 29. “She loves her family, I love my family and we both care about work a lot. We both like to show up for our partners — and yet we also understand the balance of it all.” Powell and the Landman actress have been romantically linked since late last year before making their social media debut in June. “There’s something so lovely about someone rooting for you. Someone who wants you to win in all the ways that are good for you as a human,” Powell added in Wednesday’s profile. “Not just professionally but in all the ways that are good for your soul.” Aside from Powell’s glowing Esquire comments, he and Randolph have preferred to keep their connection private. “I think, for peace of mind, those are really important for me to keep separate,” Randolph told InStyle in January of her low-key romance. “How people perceive you publicly is not who you are. It’s hard to not [read the comments] because it’s so in our face, and everyone’s online, so you see things that you don’t necessarily want to, and then it puts you in a bad mood for the rest of the day or hurts your feelings. It’s not smart to let that define you because that’s not real.”

Missouri Teen's Tragic Death Raises Questions About Police Transparency

See more of our coverage in your search results. A Missouri high schooler was killed after being hit by a police car while authorities claimed she died in a hit-and-run accident, her devastated family claimed. Persephone Berger, 16, was lying in the road when she was struck by a St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office vehicle at around 3:45 a.m. Saturday, KMOV reported.Berger was heading to her Park Hills home after she had snuck out to a party the previous night when a witness found her in the road and reported the discovery to cops. Persephone Berger was killed Saturday after being hit by a cop car. Allison Berger / facebook“While approaching [the scene], the Deputy did not see the [girl] in the roadway and subsequently struck [her],” Sheriff Jeff Crites said in a statement. It’s unclear why Berger ended up in the road but her dad, Jarred Berger, was initially told by law enforcement his daughter died in a hit-and-run, according to her aunt, Kimberly Cabuchola.A preliminary autopsy found her injuries were “consistent with those sustained from the responding Deputy’s vehicle,” authorities said.Cabuchola admitted “accidents happen” and revealed she wouldn’t have been angry towards the driver, who is around 23 and had worked for the department for around three months, if the sheriff’s office had been transparent.“All they had to do was say ‘Our officer accidentally ran over your child and she died,’” the bewildered relative told KMOV. “That’s all they had to do. But no.”“To try and cover it up and to lie to our family? Why?  Why would they need to do that? We could have forgiven that officer.”A candlelit vigil was held at West County High School on Monday in the student’s memory. Joy-Jarrad Berger / FacebookHowever, Cabuchola ripped the sheriff’s office for being slow to contact Berger’s father.“The lies… not calling the right people in,” she blasted. “Not reaching out to my brother for three days. That wasn’t an accident.“The only [person] that contacted him within that three-day [period] was the coroner, to tell us that she was so badly mangled that we needed to have a closed coffin for her.”“I want to go over to that county jail and tell them, you know. I want to scream and I want to cuss at them. But I know I can’t. I know I can’t. Just tell us the truth.”Crites has been tight-lipped over the claims she was killed in a hit-and-run as he wasn’t the responding officer.Berger has been described as a ‘caring and compassionate young woman.’ Allison Berger / facebookAuthorities are still awaiting the results of toxicology tests, and an independent investigation is set to be carried out by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.Investigators are also waiting for her autopsy results; meanwhile tributes have been paid to the teen – who has been described as an “avid Harry Potter fan” by her family.“Throughout her years, Persephone blossomed into a caring and compassionate young woman, always ready with a smile and a kind word for everyone she met,” they said in an obit.“A passionate member of her school choir since fifth grade, she filled the halls with her beautiful voice and infectious enthusiasm.“She had an outgoing spirit and was affectionately known as a social butterfly, radiating warmth and kindness to those around her. In her free time, Persephone loved to embark on hikes and engage with nature, cherishing the adventures she shared with her friends and family.”Her sister, Allison Berger, described the Harry Potter fan as someone who was “exciting” and “so full of life.”“I love you so much Persephone and we miss you more than you would ever even imagine,” she wrote online on Saturday.Students at Berger’s school, West County High School, wore pink on Monday and hundreds of mourners attended a vigil. “She was just a really lively, understanding person. She never judged a soul. Like, she was just a really sweet person,” Emma Houser said, revealing the atmosphere in school was “so dull” following her death.“She felt kind of like an older sister and like someone you can lean on and talk to about anything,” she said.Riley Skaggs, one of Berger’s pals, described her as someone who was “fun, loving [and] very smart.”

Why Britney Spears' Dollywood Trip with Her Sons Is Turning Heads

Britney Spears is soaking up time with her sons, Preston and Jayden, while exploring Dollywood for the first time. “Wow wow!!! I didn’t know this place existed, so incredibly cool and exciting… but extremely hot and my skirt is too big for me… family outings!!!” Spears, 44, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, October 7. “DOLLYWOOD IS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! .” Alongside the message, Spears shared a photo featuring the pop star with her arms around sons Preston, 21, and Jayden, 20, who smiled for the camera. Spears wore a face mask and sunglasses as she posed for the camera. (Spears shares her sons with ex Kevin Federline, whom she was married to from 2004 to 2006.) Spears’ visit to Dollywood comes less than two months after Dolly Parton died at age 80 following the country singer’s “brief” and private battle with cancer. In a separate upload on Tuesday, Spears documented walking around Dollywood with her family. She captioned the Instagram video, “.” While Spears was estranged from her sons for years, she has since mended her relationships with them. In June, Jayden and Preston made their runway debut at Paris Fashion Week and reflected on receiving their mom’s support ahead of their milestone moment. “She wasn’t there with us, but she sent us flowers to our hotel as a good luck thing, and called and texted us so many times,” Jayden told Vogue in July. “It was good to have that and to carry that with us before we went out there.” In September, Spears publicly paid tribute to her sons on their respective birthdays, which are just two days apart. “Happy birthday to my handsome young boy oh dear lord we have this beautiful thing called life in front of us, it’s such a beautiful delicate thing,” she wrote via Instagram alongside photos of Jayden. “I hope I can be the best mommy in the world every day of ur life!!!!” Hours later, Spears honored son Preston. “Happy early B-day to u as well,” Spears wrote via Instagram. “Please stop working out so much because your muscles r starting to scare me …. JK! Well ‍♀️ I’m so proud of the young man you have become.” While sharing a throwback photo of her sons in a golf cart, Spears added, “P.S. This was in London, strolling in the park …. Preston absolutely loved London!!!” She then uploaded two additional photos of Preston, which she captioned, “Happy b day baby!”

See more of our coverage in your search results. A New Hampshire fisherman caught the state’s largest bluefin tuna weighing over 1,100 pounds — smashing a record that had stood for more than a decade.Brandon McGirl was hoping to reel in anything when he boarded the Out of Line, a Savage Charters NH boat captained by Jamie Savage, on Saturday for an overnight fishing trip out of Rye Harbor on the New Hampshire Seacoast, WMUR reported.“It was very difficult conditions to try and fish. It was a little bit rougher than we were hoping for,” McGirl told the outlet.Brandon McGirl and Captain Jamie Savage of Savage Charters NH landed a 1,116-pound bluefin tuna in New Hampshire, smashing the state record. ABC/WHAS11After hours on the open water — with almost nothing to show for their effort — the crew was gearing up to call it a night when, out of nowhere, McGirl’s reel began clicking.“They never come when you expect them to come,” McGirl said. The crew chased the fish for about a mile before finally getting it alongside the boat during the grueling struggle. With no way to get it on deck, they towed the fish back toward the harbor, where they lifted the beast from the water.“We lifted it out of the water and immediately knew it was way bigger than what we thought and bigger than anything either of us had seen before,” Savage said. The catch turned out to be a monster bluefin tuna that tipped the scales at 1,116 pounds — more than 150 pounds heavier than the previous New Hampshire record, set in 2013, the outlet reported. The men chased the fish for about a mile before finally getting it alongside the boat during the grueling struggle. ABC/WHAS11McGirl could barely believe what they had reeled in.“If you tuna fish for long time, to catch a 1,000-pound fish, is, I mean, it’s something that you dream of,” he told the outlet.A photo of the catch shows the tuna nearly as long as both men are tall, so big it barely fits in the boat. The record-breaking catch even drew congratulations from Gov. Kelly Ayotte the next day.“Now THAT is a catch,” Ayotte wrote on Facebook, sharing a link to WMUR’s report. The catch turned out to be a monster bluefin tuna that tipped the scales at 1,116 pounds — more than 150 pounds heavier than the previous New Hampshire record, set in 2013. Facebook/Bikes & BitesWhile the meat of the fish will be sold, the tuna’s tail will stay behind at the harbor, a souvenir of the record-setting day. ABC/WHAS11The catch also came close to a national mark. The largest bluefin tuna on record in US waters weighed 1,142 pounds, 12 ounces, and was caught off Block Island, Rhode Island, by J. Dempsey in September 1981 — about 27 pounds more than McGirl’s fish, according to On The Water. The tuna will be sold and could be shipped as far as Japan, but its tail will stay behind at the harbor, a souvenir of the record-setting day, WMUR reported.McGirl told Foster’s Daily Democrat that he’ll be paid by check later and doesn’t yet know what the fish will fetch. The record comes after fishermen in San Diego caught a nearly 500-pound bluefin tuna last month — and the largest bluefin ever caught on rod and reelThe beast weighed 446 pounds — with an estimated weight of 500 pounds whole.

Skydance CEO David Ellison doubled down on his plans to combine HBO Max and Paramount+ into a single streaming service – sparking questions about how much the mega-streamer could cost fans.Ellison’s $81 billion merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery officially closed Tuesday, forming a new media behemoth called Skydance, after months of antitrust roadblocks. In the “long term,” the company plans to “bring [HBO Max] and [Paramount+] together” as one streaming service,” the exec told reporters Tuesday on his first day running the new Hollywood giant.David Ellison doubled down on his plans to combine HBO Max and Paramount+ into a single streaming service. Noam Galai“It’ll take a period of time to do that,” he added. “So I think in the immediate, you will see them operated separately,” with “bundling” options available “in the relatively short term.”Ellison said the company expects to “accelerate how quickly we accomplish that goal,” thanks to advancements in “AI technology and other things.”He declined to comment further on the bundle options. The combined streamer – which would merge the country’s third- and fifth-largest services – would boast about 200 million total subscribers, according to Ellison.By that count, an HBO Max-Paramount+ hybrid would be on par with Amazon Prime, currently the second-largest streamer with roughly 200 million subscribers, and still below Netflix’s dominant 325 million customers.During Tuesday’s press conference, Ellison noted a combined platform will allow Skydance to “compete with the Disneys and Netflixes and Amazons and anybody in the world.”It’s unclear how much the combined service could cost, and whether the company is planning to hike prices. Candace Cameron Bure is celebrating becoming a grandma for the second time this year as her daughter, Natasha Bure, welcomed a daughter with her husband, Bradley Steven Perry. "Dreams really do come true," Candace, 50, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, October 7. The Full House actress — who prefers to be called "Candy Gram" rather than "grandma" — shared a carousel of Polaroid photos showing her family welcoming granddaughter Winnie Helaine into the world. In one sweet photo, Candace can be seen cradling baby Winnie in her arms as she smiles at the camera. "We love you so much Winnie sweet pea," she added in the celebratory caption. "You are so loved. CandyGram and Deda [her husband, Valeri Bure] are here for every moment . @natashaperry and @bradleysperry need no luck ." On Tuesday, October 6, Natasha, 28, and Good Luck Charlie's Perry, 27, posted their own carousel to announce daughter Winnie's birth. One Polaroid featured Perry wrapping his arms around both Natasha and Winnie, as he kissed one of the baby's cheeks and his wife kissed the other. "I’m in love … my girls," Candace wrote in the Instagram comment section. Candace and her husband, former NHL hockey player Valeri, share three children: daughter Natasha and her brothers Lev, 26, Maksim, 24. Natasha and Perry revealed that they were expecting their first baby in May, mere weeks before her brother Lev and his wife, Elliott Bure, confirmed they also had a bundle of joy on the way. “Are you KIDDING?!! Another grandbaby on the way !!!!!” Candace beamed via Instagram on May 28. “Does life get any better?!!! CandyGram x2 = fully ignited . Congratulations Lev and @elliottpbure , we are still pinching ourselves!! .” Lev and Elliott ultimately made Candace and Valeri grandparents first in August, revealing that their son, Bond Leo, was "born 10 weeks early at exactly 3 lbs" and "was transferred immediately to the NICU." "Through lots of tears, countless prayers, and what felt like endless hours in the hospital, 5 weeks and 5 days later, we finally brought our miracle boy home," Elliott explained via Instagram. She continued, "Thank you to the entire staff of nurses and doctors who took the most incredible care of our baby, and to our community who we couldn’t have done any of it without! Thank you Jesus for every answered prayer!!!!! we are blessed beyond measure!!!!” Candace acknowledged the milestone of Lev and Elliott bringing baby Bond home in September, calling her grandson a "miracle baby." "Our hearts could not be more full of love,” she wrote to the new parents. “You and Lev are the most amazing parents, and we are here for every minute of it ❤️. We love you all sooooooo much.” Candace and Valeri celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in June.

Valerie Bertinelli's Fierce Defense of Her Love for Eddie Van Halen

Valerie Bertinelli's Fierce Defense of Her Love for Eddie Van Halen

Valerie Bertinelli has no regrets about posting a photo of her late ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen, on the anniversary of his death. “It does not take long for me to get a lot of pushback when I post a picture of me and Ed,” Bertinelli, 66, shared via Instagram on Tuesday, October 6. “It used to really bother me. It does not, not anymore. Not any longer, because I learned a lot.” Earlier in the day, the Hot in Cleveland actress posted a throwback picture with the rocker on social media. Van Halen — who was married to Bertinelli from 1981 to 2007 — died of cancer in 2020 at the age of 65. “Photos may fade, like old photos do, but not the memories and never the love,” she captioned the tribute. After receiving some comments from “haters” about the post, Bertinelli decided to address the scrutiny directly in a video message. “They’ll never quite say the words, ‘You’re not allowed to love your ex-husband,’ but they berate you and berate you for months, make you think you’re crazy until you finally say, ‘OK, fine, I don’t love him,’” she said. “They will never say, ‘Take that picture down, the one of your ex-husband along with you and your son in better days.’ They’ll never say take it down. But [they’ll say] that you’re obsessed, say all kinds of f***ed up s*** until you take the picture down.” While Bertinelli said she was once swayed by coercive comments, those days are over. (The best-selling author later clarified to a follower that she wasn’t referring to her ex-husband. Instead, it was a person who “wasn’t in my life long.”) “My heart can hold a lot of love. I have a big piece right here that’s got Ed’s name all over it. And [my son] Wolfie’s name. And my daughter-in-law. And my mother. And my cats. And my girlfriends. And all the people that I love in my life,” she shared. “My heart can hold it all. If I ever fall in love again, I’ll make room in my heart for that person, without it touching the love I have for Ed, my son, my daughter-in-law, all the people that I love.” She continued, “Your heart opens up. Because your heart can hold a lot of love. All of our hearts can. So you can’t bother me. I love Ed. Never stopped loving Ed. And my heart loves a lot. Don’t you wish yours could too?”
