Ben Affleck's Emotional Journey After Losing Both Parents So Close Together New

Ben Affleck's Emotional Journey After Losing Both Parents So Close Together

Ben Affleck’s perspective on life shifted after he lost both of his parents, mom Chris and dad Timothy, in the span of two months. “It’s a big year of life. My brother [Casey Affleck] and I, our parents died just two months apart, beginning of April and June,” Ben, 54, told GQ in an interview published on Tuesday, October 6. “That’s a lot, man.” News broke in July that Ben and Casey’s mother had died at age 83 on June 2. Earlier this month, Casey, 51, revealed at the Venice International Film Festival that their father had also died recently. During his interview on Tuesday, Ben opened up about how his parents’ deaths affected him. “It just brings up all these — I mean, your childhood, how you were raised, you see things differently, you appreciate your parents in different ways, and you think about your own mortality and your own life and your own children and what you want to do with it,” he explained. “And the bare fact of the very fleeting nature of all of our lives kind of stares you back in the face. And you realize, yeah, we only get so much time.” Ben also reflected on what his mom and dad’s deaths have taught him about grief. “Often the end of life isn’t full of wisdom and resolve,” he said. “Stuff you haven’t fixed in life stays unfixed. And in the case of my mom, she was pretty extraordinary and brave. I mean, she’s an amazing woman and her death really did cause me to even more deeply and fully appreciate her and her life.” Ben continued, “But yeah, you face that stuff and it makes you think, ‘OK, how do I want to spend the rest of this time? Because you realize there’s not all that much of it.’” Looking back at his relationship with his dad, Ben said they had a “complicated” dynamic in Timothy’s final years and were “not as close.” (Timothy and Chris divorced when Ben was a child. The Good Will Hunting actor and his brother were primarily raised by their mother.) “It is horrible, but it’s not tragic,” Ben admitted. “You think it’d be really sad and not a tragedy. That was an interesting thing. This is normal.” The Accountant star, who shares three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, added, “I certainly don’t want to outlive my children. That would be the worst thing I could imagine. So this is the way it’s supposed to go, but it’s still really sad for me.” Ben broke his silence on his parents’ deaths during a September 30 appearance on the “Streets We Grew Up On” podcast. “It’s sort of a big thing, and it’s caused me to start thinking about my own childhood in ways that has been a little bit different,” he said. “I’ve certainly learned to even more deeply appreciate my mom and really value and see what she did and what the sacrifice and commitment that she made and how complete it was.”

California's Bold Move to Ban Quartz Amidst Rising Silicosis Cases

See more of our coverage in your search results. California is looking to ban the creation or installation of man-made quartz amid cases of a fatal lung disease that increasingly affects workers who carve the material to make kitchen countertops.California’s Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board is expected to pass the emergency regulation for man-made quartz in October, indicating a growing concern over the preferred alternative to granite and marble.Enrique Gonzalez, a San Fernando Valley stone worker, who has been unable to work for the past two years after developing silicosis from years of working in granite and stone manufacturing. GofundmeThe ban would be for manufactured stone that contains more than 1 percent of crystalline silica. The state is expected to review the regulation before it becomes law.Crystalline silica, which is highly concentrated in man-made quartz, is spread into the air as dust when quartz is cut.Gonzalez received a lung transplant this past summer. Gofundme“He has recovered really well from the lung transplant. His body took it really well. He is showing signs of improvement, like right away,” Gonzalez said. “Before he got his lung transplant, he got really, really bad. Like his condition was very bad, where he got intubated because he couldn’t breathe, even just a little bit.”Fortunately, Gonzalez said, her father was already on the transplant list by the time his condition became critical. The family had initially been warned that finding donor lungs could take years.“So thankfully, when his condition got really bad, he had that lung transplant,” she said. Before the procedure, even walking short distances had become extremely difficult. Gonzalez said her father used a cane and often needed a wheelchair to get from the car to medical appointments or the emergency room. Even while using supplemental oxygen, he would frequently become short of breath. The family has relied in part on funds from GoFundMe since Gonzalez has been unable to work. GofundmeNow, his life looks dramatically different.“Right after he got his lung transplant, obviously yes he had some help with walking and support, but now he doesn’t need a cane. He doesn’t need a wheelchair,” Gonzalez said. “He’s able to do his morning and evening walks. He’s like a new person.”His daughter described him as a quiet, family-oriented man who spent much of his life working and was the household’s primary breadwinner.“He’s always just been at home, gone to work, and back home,” she said.Enrique Gonzalez, a San Fernando Valley stone worker who has been unable to work for the past two years after developing silicosis from years of working in granite and stone manufacturing. GofundmeThe transplant marks a major turnaround for Gonzalez, but his recovery is far from over. His daughter said he remains under significant restrictions and spends much of his time attending medical appointments, undergoing physical therapy and following up with doctors.“He can’t really be outside. He can’t go to a lot of places,” she said. “So right now it’s all been about his recovery of just staying home and going to the doctors.”With Gonzalez unable to work for the past two years, the family has relied in part on donations through GoFundMe to help cover expenses.“It has helped a lot because obviously he was not able to work and it did take a toll on us because he has always been the family provider,” Gonzalez said. “I feel very grateful that he had a second chance at life.”Download The California Post App, follow us on social, and subscribe to our newsletters California Post News: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, WhatsApp, LinkedInCalifornia Post Sports Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, XCalifornia Post Opinion California Post Newsletters: Sign up here!California Post App: Download here!Home delivery: Sign up here!Page Six Hollywood: Sign up here!

Kelly Stafford Opens Up About the Struggles of Raising Daughters in L.A. New

Kelly Stafford Opens Up About the Struggles of Raising Daughters in L.A.

Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, admitted raising her four daughters in the City of Angels comes with some very specific challenges.  “I, as a 37-year-old woman, feel pressure to look a certain way here,” Kelly exclusively told Us while promoting her partnership with Wayfair. “It’s normal for everyone to do things and whatnot. I feel that pressure. I can only imagine being my daughters growing up here. I would hope that they see it as, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s just what people do here, but we’re good.’ But I think it will be hard. There’s just a lot here.” Kelly and Matthew, 38, share four daughters: twins Sawyer and Chandler, 9, Hunter, 8 and Tyler, 6.  “For me — and I know for my husband, too — we want somewhat of a simpler upbringing for our girls,” Kelly, who met Matthew during their time at the University of Georgia, explained. “We already kind of don’t know what we’re doing because neither of us grew up this way. To be surrounded by a community with the same values and things like that is important to us. It will also help [Matthew and myself] stay grounded. That’s part of it, too. We have to stay grounded. How do you do that? You surround yourself with people who have known you forever and can call you out on your bulls***.” Kelly added, “You know, you use your manners. You open the door for people. To me, things that matter. You have respect for people. It’s everywhere, right? It’s not just California. But I do think it’s ramped up here.” When Matthew decides to retire — he is currently in the midst of his 18th NFL season and signed a one-year, $55 million contract extension with the Rams in May — the Staffords haven’t decided whether they’ll leave California behind. “That is a question I ask myself every day,” Kelly told Us. “Family’s first for us. I miss my family like crazy. I could get choked up talking about how much I miss them. I miss my nephews and nieces growing up. Having people at sporting events, that is how I grew up. We have a huge extended family, as well. That feels like home to me.” She continued, “But I also have to realize that my daughters are older and have made friends and have routines and sports teams. My husband loves it out here. So, what’s the compromise? I don’t know yet.” In the meantime, Kelly and her family have partnered with Wayfair Delivers on its Wayfair Rewards, which provides value with every purchase, and Wayfair Verified, a curated selection of products hand-vetted for quality. “We like to make our home inviting and homey, and I think that starts with furniture and decor, which Wayfair has all of,” Kelly said. “But it also needs to be able to handle getting jumped on and spilled on and things like that. Matthew and I want our kids to fail; we want them to make mistakes. We would rather that start in the home.” She continued, “So, we want things that they can accidentally draw on or spill on and they still look beautiful and stand the test of time. It’s such an easy company to get behind. It’s not just something showing up at your door. It’s something that you know is going to work and look good and be worth the money you spent on it.”

Tim McGraw's Heartfelt Tribute to Faith Hill on Their 30th Anniversary New

Tim McGraw's Heartfelt Tribute to Faith Hill on Their 30th Anniversary

After three decades of marriage, Tim McGraw is still head over heels in love with his wife, Faith Hill. “30 years, today. 30 years of our marriage,” McGraw, 59, wrote via Instagram on Monday, October 5. “That day, October 6, 1996, under an old locust tree (I think) in my Aunt’s backyard in Rayville, Louisiana, I stood there and watched my future walk towards me with the sweetest man I’ve ever known, her father Ted.” The country singer continued, “In front of our closest family and friends, I was bound to the most beautiful soul. A lady that was glowing in my eyes, expanding my heart and giving me all the love she had.” While sharing throwback photos and video clips with his wife, McGraw celebrated the life they created, which includes daughters Gracie, 29, Maggie, 28, and Audrey, 24. “I was and still am bewildered by her capacity to love, forgive, nurture and be full of joy and laughter. She is a gift to the world for sure, however, for us, we get her, all of her,” McGraw wrote via Instagram. “And I (and my girls) know who is ours, completely. It’s difficult to describe what she means, she is the center of gravity to my life and our girls’ lives and anyone who knows Audrey Faith McGraw.” The Grammy winner continued, “I love you baby. You are my best friend. My lover. My wife. My shelter in any and every storm. … Many more beautiful memories to come.I am a fortunate man.” Although Hill, 59, is not currently on social media, the country singer has previously gushed about her husband and the father of her three daughters. After McGraw released his 2023 album, Standing Room Only, Hill proved to be her husband’s No. 1 cheerleader when she wrote via Instagram, “Still after all this time and so many albums, you never cease to amaze me. You are an absolute master of your art. In every way. Congratulations!!!!!! My love. We are so proud of you.” As the couple prepare for another decade in their love story, McGraw previously reflected on how much the pair has accomplished on and off stage. “We have been through so much together, our girls growing up, me trying to grow up, and you, you, you, always there, always there for all of us when we fell, always you when we triumphed, always you,” he wrote via Instagram in October 2025. “When we love, when we live, when we think of how to love, live and dream, always you. You are my girl, I love you with a fire that grows each passing year.”

A former prosecutor in the New York attorney general’s office claims that Letitia James is threatening him after he blew the whistle on a scheme to take down President Trump – as he refuses to delete evidence of the alleged corruption.Daniel Wiesenfeld, who worked in James’ Investor Protection Bureau before he was axed last month, defiantly told his former boss Monday he would not be handing over “confidential and privileged” materials, according to email obtained by the Times-Union.The blistering email also included a photo of a detective’s business card from the AG’s Executive Protection Detail that had been jammed into his front door, the paper reported. New York Attorney General Letitia James holds a press conference in the Bronx on Saturday, October 3, 2026. J.C. Rice for NY Post“I am in receipt of your September 18th letter threatening me with ‘professional discipline, as well as civil and/or criminal action’ and your subsequent September 30th letter providing a deadline by 5pm today for me to confirm my destruction of your ‘confidential and/or privileged information’,” Wiesenfeld wrote Monday.“You have also commissioned your ‘protection detail’ detectives to repeatedly hound me by banging on my front door. Attached is the business card one of them left in my door after their latest intrusion,” he continued in the email, which was also sent to Kumiki Gibson, general counsel in the attorney general’s office.Wiesenfeld said he understands that James is “fearful” of what he might do with the “‘confidential and privileged’ materials” ahead of this year’s election, in which James is on the ballot — but said he would not be intimidated by her threats.“These documents are simply evidence and your threats will not compel me to destroy such evidence,” he said. “If anything, carrying out your threats by bringing this to a legal forum will make this information public.”Wiesenfeld’s latest email comes months after he sent an agency-wide email to the AG’s office claiming his supervisor ordered him to find and pursue crimes committed by those affiliated with Trump — James’ longstanding rival. Brooke Elliott's Emotional Response to 'Sweet Magnolias' Cancellation New

Brooke Elliott's Emotional Response to 'Sweet Magnolias' Cancellation

Brooke Elliott is finally speaking out after Netflix's shocking decision to cancel Sweet Magnolias. "To everyone who loved us, we love you just as much in return," Elliott, 51, who played Dana Sue, wrote via Instagram on Monday, October 5. "I will miss this cast and crew dearly." She concluded: "Here’s to the beautiful Sweet Magnolias ... one last time ... Pour It Out ." News broke last month that Netflix chose not to renew Sweet Magnolias for a sixth season. Instead, the streaming service ordered a new drama series from creator Sheryl J. Anderson — with JoAnna Garcia Swisher set to executive produce and potentially star in. “All grand adventures must eventually end," read a post from the show's official Instagram account. "And here, dear friends, is where ours goes. Sweet Magnolias is now complete with five seasons streaming on Netflix." The show’s creator teased her next chapter with Ladies of the House. “I’m thrilled to be embarking on this new adventure with JoAnna and Netflix,” she said in a statement. “When Jo shared the novel with me, I immediately saw the foundation for a series centered on three women grappling with the complexities of family, friendship, and romance — the kind of stories Jo and I most enjoy telling. I cannot wait to share the Richardson women and their world with Netflix’s global audience.” Swisher, 47, also weighed in on the decision to adapt Ladies of the House, which is a modern retelling of Sense and Sensibility. “From the moment I read Lauren Edmondson’s Ladies of the House, I fell completely in love with Daisy, Cricket and Wallis: their relationships, their messiness, their strength, and most of all, their heart,” she said. “I am beyond excited to continue to tell meaningful, female-driven stories alongside the incredible Sheryl J. Anderson, and to bring this to life through our production company Rolling Clover and with our wonderful partners at Black Label.” She concluded: “Netflix has been my creative home for the past seven years, and I couldn’t imagine a better place, or a better team, to tell this story.” Other Sweet Magnolias stars have since addressed the show’s abrupt cancellation — including Jamie Lynn Spears. “I can’t put into words how much the people who make up our Sweet Mags family mean to me, and that’s not just the producers, cast, crew & @Netflix who are like actual family at this point, but also each of you who watched and became a part of our family as well,” Spears, 35, wrote via Instagram in September. “It’s so rare to have five seasons straight be #1 around the whole world, in a business where getting a 2nd season of anything is almost impossible these days.”

Trump's Awkward On-Stage Moment with Natalie Harp Sparks Online Debate New

Trump's Awkward On-Stage Moment with Natalie Harp Sparks Online Debate

During a rally in preparation for the upcoming midterms earlier this week, President Donald Trump was caught on camera not-so-subtly checking out his aide Natalie Harp. Trump, 80, was speaking about the highly contentious subject of fuel when he summoned Harp, 35, to the stage, after asking her to bring him an executive order that would temporarily allow off-road “dyed” diesel intended for agriculture. Without addressing her professional responsibility or using her full name, he said: “I’d like to ask Natalie to come out, Natalie, come out, bring it out here, Natalie.” Trump was caught checking out his young aide on camera However, it wasn't what Trump said in the video that sparked the most conversation online, but his blatant ogling of his assistant, 45 years his junior, who he's long been rumored to have more than a working relationship with. As the aide left the stage, Trump turned to the crowd for no longer than a couple of seconds before craning his neck to watch Harp walk off the stage. Moments after Harp, who is younger than three of Trump’s children, exited the stage, he compared her to a game show host, saying: “She reminds me [of], like, The Price is Right.” He then seemed to suggest the pair could be on their own program, adding: “We should go on television with this show, right?” The rather outdated competition show notoriously features six scantily clad models who present prizes and assist the host. Put out by Trump’s leering, influencer Brian Krassenstein, wrote on X : “Trump appears to check out Natalie Harp’s butt before comparing her to Vanna White. “What a creepy old man. I wouldn’t expect anything different from a man who would walk in on changing teenagers and appears in the Epstein files 6000 times.” Natalie Harp and Trump. Credit: Kevin Dietsch / Getty It is far from the first time Trump has been criticized for eyeing up his young assistant Harp first began working for the Trump administration in 2022, eventually earning the nickname “human printer” after becoming known for following Trump around and handing him printed articles and letters. When Trump returned to the White House in 2025, Harp became an official Special Assistant to the President and Executive Assistant to the President. Just a few weeks ago, an image depicting the president kissing Harp at his golf course in Doonbeg, County Clare, during his state visit to Ireland surfaced online. Although it was later proved to be AI-generated, it certainly added to the conversation about the octogenarian’s adultery. Her proximity to Trump, particularly at events where Melania is absent, has caused fans and critics to speculate over whether the relationship between the high-profile colleagues is more than just professional. Why This $26K HOA Bill Is Forcing Residents to Fight Back

Why This $26K HOA Bill Is Forcing Residents to Fight Back

See more of our coverage in your search results. An 81-year-old California homeowner says she will be forced out of her longtime home after her condo association slapped each resident with a $26,000 emergency assessment — as furious neighbors fight back against the massive bill.Owners at the 198-unit Vilamoura at Rancho San Clemente condominium complex were hit with the special assessment to fund a major roof replacement project, according to ABC7.“Retired, single, what, lose my house? I wouldn’t qualify for a loan to refinance. So where do you go?” Beverly Albright told ABC7.The 198-unit Vilamoura condo complex in San Clemente. ABC7Beverly Albright, 81, fears the assessment could force her to move. ABC7Albright, who lives on a fixed income, told the Los Angeles Times that her children have already had to help her financially and that she is considering borrowing money to cover the charge.“I will have to move,” she told ABC7. “I’ve worked very hard to make it so that I could be here.”Residents say they were given several ways to cough up the money: pay the more than $26,000 bill outright, split it into two payments or enter a payment plan that initially adds more than $2,000 to their monthly costs. That comes on top of regular HOA dues, which resident Megan Blanda said already run more than $500 a month.“They can’t throw a $26,000 bill at us because the roof has been neglected all these years,” Blanda, 42, told The Times.Residents say the aging roofs don’t qualify as an emergency. ABC7The homeowners aren’t just fighting the price tag — they’re challenging the HOA’s decision to classify the work as an emergency.Residents contend the roofs were a long-known maintenance issue and therefore should not qualify for an emergency assessment that can be imposed without a homeowner vote.“It was not an emergency; it’s deferred maintenance,” homeowner Noah Martin told ABC7. “And so, then we as members should have a vote on how we want to take care of the roofs.”Some residents also argue that the roofs are not currently leaking and say they want the association to seek multiple competitive bids before moving ahead with the project. The HOA, however, maintains that replacing the roofs is necessary to prevent potentially severe damage.James R. McCormick, an attorney representing the association, told The Times that an independent expert found deteriorated waterproofing and problems with the original tile installation and warned that delaying replacement could lead to serious interior damage.McCormick acknowledged that roof maintenance “should have been planned for and performed in prior years,” but said the work now needs to be done.San Clemente residents are fighting back against the massive HOA assessment. Thomas – stock.adobe.comThe overall project is expected to cost a combined $5.2 million, including about $500,000 for fire-suppression system repairs. Residents who fail to pay could face even bigger consequences. The association has sent lien notices warning delinquent homeowners that the process could ultimately lead to foreclosure. Now a group of residents is attempting to recall members of the HOA board and take control of the association.Blanda and other homeowners involved in the effort say they obtained an estimate for a temporary weatherproofing plan costing roughly $400 per owner, which they believe could protect the roofs through the winter while a longer-term replacement is planned. The association disputes that delaying the full replacement is a viable solution.“The unfortunate reality is that this recall process will not change the status of the roofs or otherwise obviate the need for immediate roof replacement,” McCormick said. The San Clemente fight comes as steep special assessments become increasingly common at aging California condo developments, where associations are grappling with major maintenance bills, rising insurance costs and new safety requirements.

Olivia Culpo's Daughter's Adorable 'Daddy' Jersey Sparks Game Day Buzz

Olivia Culpo’s daughter’s game day style is already setting a trend. Culpo, 34, took to Instagram on Sunday, October 4, to share daughter Colette’s adorable outfit while cheering on her husband Christian McCaffrey during his San Francisco 49ers vs. Denver Broncos game. In the pic, Colette sat on the pageant queen’s lap while rocking a red-and-white jersey featuring McCaffrey’s football number on her back, 23. Instead of their last name, the jersey read “Daddy.” “Go da da!” Culpo, who is pregnant with her second baby, captioned the post. “Another win ❤️.” (The 49ers beat the Broncos 24-14.) Since welcoming Colette in July 2025, Culpo has shared inside looks at her life as a mom. In September, she shared an adorable pic of McCaffrey, 30, holding Colette. Culpo watched her husband from inside Colette’s crib and looked up and beamed at him. In another pic, she and Colette wore matching pajamas featuring a textured white top with a gray pattern. She snapped a mirror selfie of the duo. “Last weeks just us… I’m really going to miss this time (and bump ),” she captioned the post. In August, she opened up to People about becoming a mom and building their growing family. “Something about being a mom to a small child is how fleeting it feels, and then knowing the moments matter so much,” she told the outlet at the time. “I think at the beginning, you just ask yourself, no matter what the age gap is, you just check in with yourself and you ask, ‘Can I do this? Am I going to be okay? Is this okay?’ But I’m so excited to have two children close together in age. I just know that this is going to be something I’m so happy that I did, because they’ll have a built-in best friend.” She continued, “I’m so close with my siblings, and I’m excited to give that gift to my daughter. My mom always says the best thing she ever gave us were our siblings, so I really do agree with that.” Culpo and McCaffrey started dating in 2019. In April 2023, the running back got down on one knee and proposed to the influencer. They later tied the knot in July 2024 during a romantic ceremony in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. The following year, they welcomed Colette.
