Michael Crichton's Widow Takes on Warner Bros. in Legal Battle Over 'The Pitt' New

Michael Crichton's Widow Takes on Warner Bros. in Legal Battle Over 'The Pitt'

A court has ruled that famed medical drama The Pitt is similar enough to ER to allow Michael Crichton’s widow to move forward with a lawsuit. A three-judge panel unanimously denied an appeal from Warner Bros. Television on Wednesday, November 4, which argued that The Pitt and ER are unrelated to each other. “There are clear and numerous similarities between The Pitt and ER; where those similarities lie, on a ladder of abstraction protecting only the more specific expressions, is a matter of ‘degree,’” the court ruled, per NBC News. “Making favorable inferences in Roadrunner’s favor, as we must, we find the details here suffice for a prima facie case.” The appeals court, however, dismissed a claim against The Pitt creators Noah Wyle, John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill. The court ruled that the group was not aware that they could be violating contractual rights with Crichton, one of the creators of ER. Crichton, who died in 2008, had a contract with Warner Bros. Television that included a “frozen rights” provision preventing the studio from making any spinoffs or reboots without his approval. Michael’s widow, Sherri Crichton, filed a lawsuit in August 2024 before the premiere of The Pitt. She alleged that Wells and Wyle initially had hopes to reboot ER but did not receive her permission, thus creating The Pitt. Warner Bros. Television then filed a motion to throw out the suit under California’s anti-SLAPP statute, which aims to protect individuals from free speech related lawsuits. The motion was denied last year by judge Wendy Chang, who decided that Sherri had enough evidence to move forward. With the ruling on Wednesday, the lawsuit will now proceed at the trial court. “I am deeply gratified by the Court of Appeal decision and look forward to discovery and to our case, which affects writers, creators, and their families and estates, being presented to a jury,” Sherri said in a statement to Deadline. ER aired from 1994 to 2009, centering around the life of an emergency room in a fictionalized version of Chicago’s Cook County Hospital. More than a decade later, The Pitt premiered on Max and was described as “a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh.” In The Pitt, the 15 episodes showcase 15 hours of one shift in the emergency room. “John, Max and Warner Brothers were on board to try to make use of this new platform of streaming, to see whether or not we could tell the story in a visually more arresting way than we did back in the ’90s,” Wyle explained to TVLine in January 2025. “It is a more photorealistic way than we were ever able to do, and in a more organic, performance-based way. Because you’re no longer to standards and practices and language [barriers], you really can paint with all the colors on the palette. The question isn’t ‘What can you show?’ Instead it is, ‘What should you show, in discretion and taste?'”

Sharna Burgess Opens Up About the Struggle of Balancing DWTS and Motherhood New

Sharna Burgess Opens Up About the Struggle of Balancing DWTS and Motherhood

Sharna Burgess’ family is her top priority, but returning to Dancing With the Stars for season 35 was exactly what she needed to be the best version of herself. “Being away from Zane like this was new so it was hard on my mama heart,” Burgess, 41, wrote via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, November 4, admitting spending time away from her 4-year-old son was the most challenging part of being back on DWTS. “I’d leave before he woke up and return when he was asleep sometimes for nearly a week.” While there were struggles with her busy ballroom schedule, Burgess said it was worth it. “It’s so hard but at the same time so important for him to see me chasing my dreams and learning what work ethic and drive look like,” the Australian dancer explained. “He had all of me for three years and now it’s time for me to have me, to rebuild all the things that were paused.” Burgess, who shares her son with fiancé Brian Austin Green, added, “I love that he will have both versions.” (Green, 53, also shares three children with ex-wife Megan Fox and son Kassius, 24, with ex Vanessa Marcil.) When Burgess is not working, she said she is “all in and present in all ways” at home. Zane also “gets to hear about” her work life, “watch it on TV or come watch me onstage.” Burgess’ son often visited her at the studio to “see what that looks like” as she competed alongside Bachelorette alum Tyler Cameron. “He gets the best of both worlds and so do I,” Burgess said of her work-life balance. After 14 seasons as a DWTS pro, Burgess took time away from the show in 2022, the same year Zane was born. She made her comeback for season 35 in September, but she and Cameron, 33, were sent home in a double elimination during Horror Movie Night. Before being voted off, Burgess exclusively opened up to Us about how she and Green balance their busy careers with being parents. “I don’t think there is a secret. I think sometimes we nail it and sometimes we don’t,” she noted. “I think that’s life. And yeah, and it just ebbs and flows, and you try and be a good team and you try and figure it out.” Burgess added that her family life was also part of the reason she would only be joining the DWTS live tour for “a couple of weeks” when the season ends. “I’m so excited to go back on tour with everyone,” she shared with Us last month. “My life is not a life where I could just leave for three months. I can’t take Zane with me, like, there’s a lot of things in it. … That’s nothing unusual for our life, going away and working for a few weeks at a time. A few months [is] definitely different.” Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

Matt Damon's Wife Luciana Barroso's Brave Night Out After Brain Surgery New

Matt Damon's Wife Luciana Barroso's Brave Night Out After Brain Surgery

Matt Damon revealed wife Luciana Barroso had a health scare in 2024. In his new GQ cover story, Damon, 56, recalled missing the 2007 Oscars and shared that he was looking forward to celebrating again with Oppenheimer in 2024. That is, until Barroso, 50, underwent surgery just before the awards show, which the couple had to skip. “We had this whole scary thing happen where my wife had a brain aneurysm,” Damon said in the interview published on Thursday, November 5. “She’s totally fine, thank God, but [she] had this brain surgery the week before the Oscars.” Despite the surgery, Barroso surprised Damon with a sweet gesture, and the pair ultimately stepped out to attend an afterparty. “But it was the first night she felt good enough to get up and had her energy back. And she surprised me and got a dress and we went out to the afterparty, because she remembered that the last time it happened, I didn’t do it,” he recalled. “And she was like, ‘This time we’re going out.’ And it was pretty f***ing heroic of her to do that and really meaningful.” Damon did not receive a nod for his role as Leslie Groves in Oppenheimer at the 2024 ceremony, but the film got 13 nominations and took home Best Picture that year. Before the awards show, host Jimmy Kimmel joked that Damon was skipping the Oscars because he wasn’t nominated for Oppenheimer. “What really happened? He couldn’t get a ticket,” Kimmel, 58, quipped to CNN at the time of Damon’s absence. “It’s one of the saddest things I’ve ever heard. He asked if he could come and they told him, ‘Sorry – nominees only.’” Damon has been married to Barroso since 2005. The pair met two years prior when Barroso was a single mother to daughter Alexia and working at a bar in Miami. The Odyssey star and Barroso later added three more daughters — Isabella, Gia and Stella — to their family. “I just know I think we both feel really, really lucky to have met each other so we don’t take that for granted,” Barroso told Vogue in 2018 of the pair’s relationship. “It’s life and marriage, so there’s ups and downs you know, but overall, it’s easy and it’s fun. And he’s such a good dad.”

Why the Real Average Penis Size Is Surprising Men Everywhere New

Why the Real Average Penis Size Is Surprising Men Everywhere

See more of our coverage in your search results. Men are known to stretch the truth about what’s in their trousers. One study found that the average Joe exaggerates the length of his manhood by around 20% — with one particularly big-talking fellow claiming he was packing a Peter 50 times larger than an average elephant’s.But that begs the question: Just how long is the average dong? Most men exaggerate the size of their penis when asked to self-report their measurements in studies. sulit.photos – stock.adobe.comMedical reviews have found that the average flaccid member clocks in around 3.63 inches long and 3.58 inches in girth when measured by a medical professional. When fully erect, the average willy grows to approximately 5.45 inches in length and 4.69 inches in girth. If those numbers are smaller than you expected, you’re certainly not alone.“In therapy, we frequently see that men believe the true ‘average’ is much larger, often around 6.5 to 7 inches,” Vanessa Cushing, a certified sex and couples therapist, told The Post.“Men often overestimate or exaggerate because our culture closely links penis size to masculinity, worth, and the ability to give pleasure,” she said. The disconnect, Cushing explained, often stems from the cultural messages and unrealistic expectations we absorb about how sex and bodies are supposed to look.“When main sources of education come from mainstream pornography, locker-room bragging or pop culture, men are comparing themselves to extreme outliers,” she said.“This creates a widespread sense of inadequacy, often leading to performance anxiety or penile dysmorphic disorder, where men believe their entirely normal bodies are flawed.”Anxiety around penis size is linked to higher rates of erectile dysfunction and lower intercourse satisfaction. panadda design – stock.adobe.comAnd the insecurity is hardly uncommon. In the US, around 26.4% of guys are dissatisfied with the size of their Johnson, according to a 2019 survey of 4,109 men.The sentiment appears to be widespread, with a 2015 survey of 15,521 men around the globe finding that just 55% were happy with their downstairs dimensions. But the consequences can go beyond bruised egos.Men with penile dysmorphic disorder or small penis anxiety have been shown to experience higher rates of erectile dysfunction, as well as lower intercourse satisfaction, than men who aren’t preoccupied with their package. And while popular culture often associates a larger member with virility, power, masculinity and status, research suggests women generally place far less importance on their partner’s measurements than men might think. In studies, around 85% of women reported being satisfied with their partner’s penis size, while 45% of men admitted they’d prefer to have a little more below the belt. The average erect penis size in the US is 5.45 inches long. diy13 – stock.adobe.comIf you’re feeling shortchanged, Cushing said there are a few suggestions she often makes to patients. First: Focus on anatomy over depth.“The majority of sensitive nerve endings in the vagina (including the internal clitoral network) are located within the first two to three inches,” she said. “Real pleasure is built on arousal, communication, and emotional presence, not length.”Next up: Audit your media diet.“Take a conscious step back from media that triggers body shame,” Cushing advised. “Realizing that adult entertainment casts performers specifically for extreme traits can help reset realistic expectations.”And finally: Shift from performance to connection.“Practice focusing on overall sensory touch rather than treating intimacy like a physical test to pass,” she urged.

Kanye West's Family Reunion at Yeezy Show: Why It's Sparking Buzz New

Kanye West's Family Reunion at Yeezy Show: Why It's Sparking Buzz

Kanye West made his latest Yeezy runway show a family affair! The rapper, 49, was flanked by all four of his children with ex Kim Kardashian — daughters North, 13, and Chicago, 8, and sons Saint, 10, and Psalm, 7 — at his latest fashion show in Los Angeles on Wednesday, November 4. North, 13, styled her long blue hair, which reached her waist, straight, and wore matching blue contact lenses for the occasion. West’s eldest daughter wore an oversized black coat and black boots, while the other three children each wore monochrome-colored outfits. North also posed for photos with her stepmom, Bianca Censori. The Australian architect, 31, wore a one-piece jumpsuit with a plunging neckline that reached down to her navel. West was married to Kardashian, 46, from 2014 to 2022. Kardashian recently opened up about her coparenting dynamic with the Grammy winner in a new authorized biography, Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, written by journalist and author Jonathan Van Meter. “Oh, I worry about [Kanye] all day,” Kardashian said in the book. “All the time. That’s the father of my kids, I’ll never not worry about him. And that’s a big burden of having kids with someone who you don’t necessarily get along with. My kids would never know that. I do everything in my power to forget about all the negative things that happened. I have to be realistic, and my therapist definitely tells me, ‘Your boundaries have to go up,’ but we manage to coparent without too much conflict.” She continued, “It’s been pretty smooth for a while. I guess because we don’t talk that much. But when we see each other, we give each other a hug. I’m really close with his family. I welcome anyone. I tell them all, open-door policy. Anytime you’re in town, come for dinner with us, see the kids as much as you want, take them out, come over and hang out. That’s their family. So I encourage the relationship with their dad so much.” Kardashian said she mostly communicates with her ex through Censori or his manager. “I’m always like, ‘Oh, Dad’s traveling,'” she said. “I still make up stories and protect [the kids] because I want them to think their dad is the greatest. But I invite him over all the time. ‘Do you want to come to dinner? I’ll leave the house. Come and have dinner with the kids in their house so that they can feel comfy. Sleep over for a few nights?’ Last Christmas, I said, ‘Sleep over on Christmas Eve. Bring your girlfriend.’ I’m easy! ‘Let’s all do Christmas together.’ And I’ll recommend it again this year. I will sweep everything under the rug, all the horrible things he has said about me, so that the kids can see their father.”

Joe Minoso's Emotional Farewell: The Real Reason Behind Cruz's Exit New

Joe Minoso's Emotional Farewell: The Real Reason Behind Cruz's Exit

It was a bittersweet goodbye for Chicago Fire’s Joe Cruz, but actor Joe Miñoso feels content with how his story was wrapped up. Warning: Spoilers below from season 15, episode 15 of Chicago Fire. “What's great about what we did with the character was, you know, I never imagined him becoming such a leader, or really even a father,” Miñoso, 48, exclusively tells Us of Cruz’s final episode of the NBC series. “The arc, whether or not by design from the very beginning, really felt like a really fulfilling arc. And we did it in such a positive way. So I'm super proud of it.” During the Wednesday, November 4, episode of Chicago Fire, fans learned that Cruz was getting better by the day following his spinal injury, which he sustained during a warehouse fire earlier this season. After initially thinking he might not walk again, Cruz got out of his wheelchair, and by the end of the episode, he was only using one cane. With his improvement, he was excited that he could be back on Squad 3 sooner than later, but his wife, Chloe (Kristen Lee Gutoskie), wasn’t thrilled about the idea as she went into labor with their twins. As Captain Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) worked behind the scenes to get an extension for Cruz’s return to Squad 3, Cruz took a hard look at his life after welcoming two baby girls — making him a father of four. Cruz ultimately told Severide that he wasn’t going to be coming back to Firehouse 51. Instead, he planned to move to Minnesota to work at a special rehab center and be closer to his in-laws. “I think the great news about that episode is that the low [Cruz] experiences is ultimately just the disappointment in his family's face when they see that he actually has the opportunity to return to the fire service,” Miñoso explains to Us. “And I think when you have a family that loves you that much and cares for you that much, the decision sort of isn't as difficult as it might seem.” The actor points out that Cruz has always been a family man. “It just so happened that his first family was the one at Firehouse 51,” he says. “And then becoming sort of the head of a family feels like exactly where he should be.” Miñoso adds, “I think we really kind of nailed where he is in his life …and why he would leave. It would take a lot for Cruz to say goodbye to this job, and I think that we handled that with care.” During a pivotal moment in the episode, Severide admitted that he was very sad to see Cruz go, telling him, “We’ve been riding beside each other for 12 years. I need you beside me.” Cruz, however, stood his ground. “They need me more,” he replied, referring to his family. “Besides, you taught me everything you know. You’ll teach the new guy, too.” “The conflict here is letting go of one family for another, instead of being able to have both, it's a real, like, ‘You can't have your cake and eat it, too,’ moment in Cruz's life,” Miñoso tells Us. “But I really respect the fact that he's just so loyal that he's prepared to give up the thing he feels at home in for the sake of the people that love him the most.” Miñoso says being able to have a heart-to-heart with Severide was a “real testament to the dynamic that the two of us built together,” which he’ll “forever be proud of,” even though it was heartbreaking for fans. “It was a real honor for that to be the last scene that we shot. It felt right,” he shares. Viewers got another sweet moment before the credits rolled as Cruz spoke to his late best friend Brian “Otis” Zvonecek’s (Yuriy Sardarov) monument outside of the firehouse. (Otis died during season 8 in 2019.) “I’ll be with you always, brother,” Cruz said, promising to return Otis’ cane once he was fully recovered. Looking back at the poignant scene, Miñoso says, “I think so much of the character of Cruz is in the character of Otis, and vice versa. I don't think there was a way to really say goodbye to Cruz without really sort of putting a bookmark on that relationship.” The actor continues, “It felt like not only the appropriate way to say goodbye to the character, but also the appropriate way for the character to say goodbye to the show.” After bidding farewell to Otis, Severide congratulated Cruz on becoming a father again and told him the crew was waiting for him. Cruz proceeded to take one last photo with his Firehouse 51 family, standing in the center of the bunch as he held back tears and smiled. “I take the memories and the friendships and the family,” Miñoso tells Us of what he’ll remember most after playing Cruz for 15 seasons. “I've loved it all, and I will continue to always love it. The memories will forever be a warm place in my heart.” Chicago Fire airs on NBC Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.

What Happened to the 'Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' Couples Before Season 6?

Several Secret Lives of Mormon Wives couples have been going through some changes off camera — but where does each couple stand before season 6? When the show premiered on Hulu in 2024, viewers were introduced to Jen Affleck and husband Zac Affleck, Demi Engemann and husband Bret Engemann, Whitney Leavitt and husband Conner Leavitt, Mikayla Matthews and husband Jace Terry, Mayci Neeley and husband Jacob Neeley, Jessi Draper and husband Jordan Ngatikaura, Taylor Frankie Paul and then-partner Dakota Mortensen and Layla Taylor. (Miranda McWhorter later joined the show in season 2 after her split from Chase McWhorter.) Demi and Whitney have since exited the show with their respective partners. The other couples have faced their fair share of ups and downs on screen — especially during season 5. The condensed season was released months after production was paused in May 2026 amid Taylor and Dakota's domestic dispute. Cameras picked back up again three months later to check in with everyone before they started filming season 6. Keep scrolling to see where the other couples stand at the end of season 5: Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen Throughout the seasons, Taylor and Dakota were together off-and-on while coparenting their son, Ever. Season 5 documented the aftermath of Taylor leading The Bachelorette season 22, during which she got engaged to Doug Mason. In March, news broke that Mormon Wives halted production after Taylor and Dakota were involved in a domestic violence dispute while filming. They are currently not dating amid their legal back and forth. Jessi Draper and Jordan Ngatikaura While viewers know that Jessi and Jordan are no longer together, season 5 showed the couple still trying to make things work weeks before their divorce filing. Those closest to Jessi, however, made it clear they didn't see her staying with Jordan for long. Jessi is now dating Vanderpump Villa's Marciano Brunette, who made a brief cameo in the fifth season of Mormon Wives. Whitney and Conner Leavitt Whitney and Conner made minimal appearances in season 5. Their family of five appeared to be thriving after relocating to New York City for Whitney's Broadway run. Jen and Zac Affleck The first season of Mormon Wives highlighted the challenges in Jen and Zac's marriage, which eventually led to an offscreen separation. They got back together before welcoming daughter Penelope in July 2025. Season 5 showed Jen and Zac at odds over her career choices, such as investing in music equipment and considering a photo shoot for Sports Illustrated. Jen admitted she was once again questioning her future with Zac, which came months before she announced her pregnancy with baby No. 4. In November 2026, TMZ reported that Jen had filed for divorce from Zac after seven years of marriage. Us reached out to reps for the pair for comment. Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry After welcoming their fourth baby, Mikayla and Jace decided to separate during season 4 of the hit Hulu series. Season 5 picked up with them back together after an offscreen reconciliation. Mayci and Jacob Neeley The duo have been married since 2018 and are parents of three. Jacob expressed interest in expanding their family again, but Mayci wasn't as onboard with the idea despite her sister McCall DaPron — who is starring on the upcoming Mormon Wives OC spinoff — encouraging her to have more kids soon. Layla Taylor and Mason McWhorter Layla's relationship with Mason was brought up in season 5 when her friends questioned how much money she was spending on him — only for it not to be reciprocated. Layla mentioned it to Mason, and they broke up days later. The reality star has since found love with Kelsie Chessner after coming out as bisexual.

Abdul El-Sayed's Victory Speech Sparks Controversy After Targeting 'Enemies'

WASHINGTON — Michigan Sen.-elect Abdul El-Sayed gloated about his victory in an angry speech that focused more on his “perceived enemies” than on his opportunity to heal political divisions after one of the ugliest campaigns of the 2026 Midterms, according to a body language expert. El-Sayed, who crushed Republican Mike Rogers in the hotly contested Michigan Senate race, started his victory speech on a positive note, exhibiting “exhilaration” and “pride” — before he took a nasty turn, body language expert Dr. Lillian Glass assessed.“Abdul El-Sayed appeared elated as he celebrated his victory,” Glass, a seasoned expert witness in federal and state courts on behavioral analysis, told The Post.Follow for live updates on the 2026 Midterm ElectionsMichigan Sen.-elect Abdul El-Sayed gloated over his victory in the Wolverine State’s hotly contested Senate race. AP Photo/Julia Demaree Nikhinson“He flashed a broad, toothy smile, with squinted eyes and raised cheeks, clasped his hands, and leaned backward while laughing repeatedly. He appeared almost literally taken aback by his win. He rubbed his hands together in a gesture of satisfaction and triumph,” the expert continued. However, Glass noted that “by the conclusion, this had become less a speech about healing political divisions than a declaration of victory over perceived enemies.”After thanking Michiganders for taking “a chance on the unlikeliest of candidates,” the former public health official needled President Trump for invoking his middle name and referring to him as “Muhammad,” chiding that his new simpler name will be “senator.”“JD, there is this delicious irony in the fact that you’re constitutionally obligated to swear me in in January,” El-Sayed, who will now become the first Muslim senator, further jabbed.Abdul El-Sayed is now the first Muslim elected to the Senate in US history. REUTERSIn keeping with his occasional habit on the campaign trail, El-Sayed also invoked the Arabic expression Inshallah, meaning “God willing,” and then used the phrase, “Alhamdulillah,” meaning “Praise be to God.”El-Sayed contended that he dealt with a scourge of attacks based on his Muslim faith and the fact that he is Egyptian, acknowledging that he is “a little different.”“As he discussed these attacks, he licked his lips, a gesture consistent with dry mouth and potentially heightened emotional arousal,” Glass added. “His facial tension and increasingly forceful delivery suggested anger over what he believed had occurred during the campaign.”At one point, he slammed his detractors, accusing them of trying to “confuse” voters into doubting his patriotism, insisting, “I love America” and contrasting life in the US against that in Egypt, where some of his relatives live.More coverage of the 2026 midterm elections: Live updates on the midterm elections Far-left tees up AOC for 2028 presidential run after midterm blue wave DeSantis 2028 buzz builds after Florida withstands blue wave: ‘Only reason Florida didn’t fall’ Dems eye 56-seat Senate majority as blue tsunami washes out GOP Dems eye targets for sweeping investigations of the ‘Trump Crime Family’ after midterms blowout “Now, as I was campaigning, some of you would come up and ask me.
